Cola Day 0

I finally found a pic of the SKATE DECK SHOW I was in. You can see my board right next to Mahfood's:

Also check out THIS COOL CONTEST for creating a logo for the ROOTS. My buddy CEDAR told me about it!

A week by myself

And here's a drawing I did of my new Superhero character Lizeke. It's in the same style as the GREEN SCORPION drawing I did for Bryce. Lizeke's a good guy but sometimes does bad things because he's a genius. He just does bad things to out smart people, it's like a game to him.

BORDO BELLO!
So that skateboard deck I painted a while ago was for a show called Bordo Bello. It was a pretty cool event, here are some comics about that night (p.s. - something crazy happens...):

Esurance

Crazy right?!?!! I bought Jim Mahfood's deck! It was retarded how cheap all the decks were, the starting bid was $25 on all of them, which is half the price of a store bought skate deck (i don't understand why they would do that...), I don't think anything sold for more then $50 except a few sculptural ones, like one guy sold a crazy bench made out of boards for $70 I think. It's crazy, Mahfood was definitely the biggest name there, and I guess nobody noticed or heard of him.

I've been into his stuff for a really long time, it's nuts to say I own one of his original paintings. You should read his blog, he just put up an epic 9 page (but it will take you like an hour and a half to read it all) comic about a trip to france: INK STAINS. Looking at his stuff is so inspiring, it makes me want to draw all loose and funky with big drippy markers and pens. FOOD ONE!

iLuv page, Matt Kindt, and a gross comic

And here is the first page of my contribution to ACME COMICS' (the local Columbia indie comic shop) anthology called Awkward Moments. It's going to be a 4 page story and I'm going to add computer text (maybe just a screenshot) to it, which is why there are some blank spaces:

I'm inking with microns and made the gray with a prismacolor marker.
Also, I got MATT KINDT'S new book, 3 STORY in the mail today. I've heard it's might knock ASTERIOS POLYP by David Mazzucchelli out of the way and be the best graphic novel of 2009! I bought it directly from Matt Kindt because he was having a special where he would send a 5" x 7" watercolor painting with the book for free! I think that's over now, so sorry I didn't tell you sooner, because you could have got an original one of these:

Wow! I'm definitely going to frame that.

Headache

I have been playing a lot of BATMAN: ARKHAM ASYLUM lately, which is definitely the sickest superhero game I've ever played, and is highly recommended to anyone who who like to feel like they actually are THE BATMAN. Seriously this game makes you feel awesome when your sneaking around, silently taking out bad guy after bad guy. There's a little meter that checks the bad guys' status, and it turns to terrified when they know that you're in the room but can't find you.

Bryce and RIP nick mag

A couple weeks ago my Columbia friend Bryce sent me a SIIIIICK postcard:

I wish I could link to his stuff, but I don't think he has anything online yet. He did do the cover of local cola band AUSTIN CRANE'S new cd. Check it HERE. He draws a ton of tiny lines with those .005 microns and all his stuff is incredible. Since I usually never do a ton of detailed line work, I tried his technique with a postcard I sent back:

bad time and sharks
And here's a quick collab with cool guy EEF, he draws a shark character too and thought Sharkman and Sharker would be good together.

Farts and Music

My SF friend JORDAN BEE made a sick video of CHAZ a.k.a. TORO Y MOI, playing an OG toro song in his hallway. He did all kinds of crazy effects and filmed it on a VHS camcorder and asked me to make a Brule's Rules looking logo for it. WATCH IT HERE!!!
